Canard expected to move to Red Bull KTM.
Honda HRC today confirmed what we already knew: after ten years with the brand, Trey Canard will not return to Honda in 2017.
Honda made the announcement in a press release thanking Canard for his years with the brand.
American Honda Motor Corp., Inc. extends its sincere appreciation to Trey Canard, who has dedicated his entire professional career thus far to the Honda brand. Through high points and challenging periods, Canard’s commitment to racing and his fans has never wavered, and it has been a pleasure having him and mechanic Brent Presnell in the Honda family for the past 10 years. Everyone at Honda wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.
Canard, who rode for Team Green Kawasaki from 1998-2006, moved to the Factory Connection Honda team in his final year as an amateur in 2007 before turning pro full-time in 2008. In his three-plus years with GEICO Honda, Canard won two championships (2008 East Region SX and 2010 250MX), before moving to Honda HRC in the 450 Class in 2011.
