Jamison Mutschler’s young motocross career has so far been one wild ride.
The 8-year-old from Valley City has gone from breaking his leg to winning a crazy race on the national stage in Las Vegas, and it’s all happened since the calendar flipped to 2016.
The story began when Mutschler was selected to participate in this year’s KTM Junior Supercross Challenge (KJSC). The KJSC is a round of 10 races that are held across the nation in conjunction with the touring Monster Energy AMA Supercross series.
The Monster Energy Supercross circuit is the big boys of the sport. Think NASCAR in the similar world of stock car racing.
“These little guys go in for like a halftime show,” said Jett Mutschler, Jamison’s uncle from Jamestown. “You have to qualify to be there. Basically, the kids are selected based on things such as what their grades (in school) are and riding experience.”
