While Google Glass and the Pebble watch get the buzz, sports-equipment company Oakley is more quietly offering some pretty sophisticated wearable technology to cold-weather athletes: The Airwave 1.5, announced Oct. 2, are snow goggles with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, GPS, social-media integration, and an accelerometer.
The Airwave 1.5 goggles can measure barometric pressure and temperature, elevation, and your speed and distance. There’s a non-obstructive head-up display biult into the lower right lens to show information and notifications; it looks like a 14-inch monitor from a distance of 5 feet, said Oakley.
